The UK-based GCH Haulage has started to save £100 a week on fuel, after purchasing a Mercedes-Benz Arocs tipper trucks (https://www.truck1.eu/trucks/tippers) under the manufacturer’s Approved Used label. The very first month of operation has already shown that the truck’s abilities are impressive. According to the owner-driver Gary Hunt, the newly acquired eight-wheel Arocs dump truck boasts a great all-round performance and outstanding fuel efficiency in particular.
The truck is specially built for construction-related operations. It is powered by a 10.7-litre, inline-six engine outputting 400 hp. The ClassicSpace M-Cab features 170mm engine tunnel. As for optional extras that help to save fuel, the truck is equipped with such technologies as the brand’s PowerShift automated gearbox and Predictive Powertrain Control system, a high-performance engine brake and some others.
Fitted with a steel tipping body made by Thompsons, this Mercedes-Benz Arocs is mainly used for muckaway work and occasionally for aggregates.
Mr Hunt had previously driven the Mercedes-Benz trucks, as well as other brands, so he wasn’t a stranger when it came to the decision of picking up the right truck for a specific need. The chosen Arocs had 35,000 km on the clock when it was purchased from Dealer Rygor Commercials through the manufacturer’s Approved Used scheme. The scheme includes a thorough inspection by factory-trained specialists, six months of MoT and six months of Mechanical Breakdown Insurance.
The Rygor’s package arranged for GCH Haulage involved Mercedes-Benz Financial Services funding support. Furthermore, Gary Hunt received some practical advice from the dealer’s specialist in driver training on how to save more with the Mercedes PowerShift automated gearbox and Predictive Powertrain Control system.
